Friendship is one of the most key things in life other than family. There are many different groups of friends a person can have. For example they can have friends that they know from school that they just talk to while there, family friends, friends from work, and "best" friends. One reason why friendship is so special is because it is voluntary. You don't have to be friends with anyone that you don't want to be friends with. Friendship happens because you share certain values and hobbies with a person. Another way we form friendships is with our peers, or people that are "equal" to us. Although some people may befriend there boss, those friendships can become complicated because you are not equal with them persay. Another way we make friends with a person and remain friends with that person is that there are said to be rules for the friendship. These rules may not be discussed, but they are just somthing mutual between friends that they know and understand. Some of these rules are standing up for a friend in his or her absence, trusting each other, offering help when your friend needs it, and don't criticize your friend in public.
Reading about friends it sounds like it could be complicated to even find someone to meet these expectations. But when you find a person you will just click if your truly supposed to be friends in life.

Ten Channels of Non Verbal Communication: Vocal Behaviors
While there are many things to take into consideration for the ten channels of non verbal communication, I think that vocal behaviors is most important. Everyone in life has been yelled at, praised, or talked down to, but how did you know what kind of point that person was getting across to you? Vocal behaviors are important just for that reason.
Kids learn at a very young age how to tell when a person is happy with them or upset with them. Babies are prime examples. When you talk in a happy or excited voice to a baby, they will smile and laugh at you even though they have no idea what you are saying to them. Same thing with yelling at a child. They may not know why they are in trouble but they can tell by a person tone of voice that they did something wrong.
There are ten different things to take into consideration when discussing non verbal communication. These ten things are pitch, inflection, volume, rate, filler words, pronunciation, arrticulation, accent, and silence. Pitch is how high or how low someones voice sounds, and everyone has a different pitch. Inflection is the variation in its pitch. Monotone people have very little inflection, while very expressive people have a lot of inflection in their voice. Volume is one that is key in most conversations. It is how loud or how quiet a person is. I think it is said to be most important because if a person has a loud, strong voice, people will take them more seriously. Rate is how fast a person can talk. Filler words are words like "umm" or "hmm". Pronunciation is key also in talking to a person. If you have good pronunciation in your words, you will sounds educated to people. Articulation is how clearly a person speaks. Accent is the pattern of pronouncing vowel and consonant sounds that represent a certain language or geographic area. The last one is silence is just simply the absence of sound.

Five characteristics of nonverbal communication
Nonverbal communication is behaviors and characteristics that convey meaning without the use of words. Non verbal communication is a way people communicate without using words, but more so just body movements. There are five charcateristics of non verbal communication. They are: present in most interpersonal conversations, often conveys more information than verbal communication, usually believed over verbal communication, primary means of communicating emotion, and metacommunicates.
The first one being that it is present in most interpersonal conversations means that in a group of people you can watch a persons facial expressions. Examples of non verbal communication you can pick up on is if a person is bored with the conversation your having with them, or a change in their tone of voice you can tell if they're mad or sad. The second was is that it often conveys more information than verbal communication. This is said because many people tell the truth while talking more with their facial expressions than with their words. The third is that nonverbal communication is usually believed over verbal communication. An example is that if you run into your friend and they look mad or if they are slumped over not very talkative, and they tell you that they had a "great day" you would more than likely be able to tell by there body language that that wasn't the truth. The fourth most important characteristic is that it is the primary means of communicating emotion. This one ties into the third characterisic of being able to tell how your friend truly feels even if their words dont match their words. The last one is metacommunicates. Metacommunicates is what people say to people before they actually start their story they intended to tell the person.
By reading about these nonverbal communications, it is safe to say that this form of communication is more important than verbal communication. Nonverbal communication can be very helpful when talking to people in your everday life. It can also be useful for law enforcement to learn what to read by people's facial expressions.

Swearing and other profanity: Lazy speech or credible communication
Swearing and using profanity has become our nation’s favorite
way of communicating our feelings. Whether someone is expressing to someone how
much they love a person or how much they want to f*ck someone up, curse words
is a way to express this. Most “curse words” are considered to be vulgar, rude,
or obscene in the context in which many people use them. Depending on what kind
of group you’re around, using cuss words can be found disrespectful.
There
are some cuss words that can be used to insult a person such as calling a girl
a bitch or calling a person a dumbass. These have become very common in
everyday language though and are no longer seen to be insulting. Women are now
embracing the fact that people think they are a bitch. Another cuss word that
was once considered the “worse”, is now becoming used more and more by the
younger generations. Fuck is one curse word that many people did not want to
hear let alone let their kids hear it, but now it now has a very common use in
everyday conversation.
So now
the question is, is profanity lazy speech or credible communication? Many
people have different opinions on the answer to this, but I think its lazy
speech. I personally do not use cuss words in an everyday conversation. I am
around it a lot, but that does not mean I have picked up on all of the bad
habits of using profanity. People have become use to using these words though
because of the people around them using them, that it is a part of a lot of
peoples vocabulary. I’m not saying that people should stop cussing, because it doesn’t
really bother me, I just think people should try to use different words to
broaden their vocab.
