While there are many things to take into consideration for the ten channels of non verbal communication, I think that vocal behaviors is most important. Everyone in life has been yelled at, praised, or talked down to, but how did you know what kind of point that person was getting across to you? Vocal behaviors are important just for that reason.
Kids learn at a very young age how to tell when a person is happy with them or upset with them. Babies are prime examples. When you talk in a happy or excited voice to a baby, they will smile and laugh at you even though they have no idea what you are saying to them. Same thing with yelling at a child. They may not know why they are in trouble but they can tell by a person tone of voice that they did something wrong.
There are ten different things to take into consideration when discussing non verbal communication. These ten things are pitch, inflection, volume, rate, filler words, pronunciation, arrticulation, accent, and silence. Pitch is how high or how low someones voice sounds, and everyone has a different pitch. Inflection is the variation in its pitch. Monotone people have very little inflection, while very expressive people have a lot of inflection in their voice. Volume is one that is key in most conversations. It is how loud or how quiet a person is. I think it is said to be most important because if a person has a loud, strong voice, people will take them more seriously. Rate is how fast a person can talk. Filler words are words like "umm" or "hmm". Pronunciation is key also in talking to a person. If you have good pronunciation in your words, you will sounds educated to people. Articulation is how clearly a person speaks. Accent is the pattern of pronouncing vowel and consonant sounds that represent a certain language or geographic area. The last one is silence is just simply the absence of sound.
